Australia’s First Physical Literacy Week to Launch in Early Childhood Services Nationwide
KIDDO is excited to announce the launch of Australia’s first Physical Literacy Week, taking place from 3–7 November 2025.
This free national initiative, supported by Healthway, is set to be the biggest celebration of movement, play and physical literacy in early childhood, with Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services across the country invited to join.
Why Physical Literacy Week?
The early years are a crucial time for developing the skills, confidence and love of movement that last a lifetime. Physical Literacy Week makes it simple for educators to bring movement and active play into daily routines, while engaging families in fun, active play.
“Movement in the early years supports not just physical development, but also the development of social skills, language and communication and self-confidence,” said Amanda Derbyshire KIDDO Program Director. “Through Physical Literacy Week, we’re making it easy for services to celebrate these benefits with their children and families.”
What’s Involved?
Every registered service receives a free participation kit, including daily Move, Play & Explore challenges with versions for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
